Fremont County is the largest alfalfa and hay producing county in the state, is home to over 60,000 acres of high altitude (5,100 to 7,100 ft.) irrigated alfalfa hay. The county produces extremely high quality hay due to the high altitude and low rate of annual precipitation (less than 10 inches).
