Windows 95 Instructions

Before following the instructions below, double-click on My Computer and see if you have a Dial-up Networking icon. If you do not, call (800)588-3304.

  • Double-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop.
  • Double-click on the Control Panel icon.
  • Double-click on the Internet Options or Internet icon. If you can not find it contact Customer Service at (800)588-3304.
  • Internet Properties
  • On the Internet Properties screen, click on the "General" tab. In the section called "Home Page" enter the following address in place of what currently appears: http://www.Wyoming.com
  • Click on the "Connections" tab.
  • Under the connection section, click on the "Connect" button. The Internet Connection Wizard will start.
  • Internet Connection Wizard
  • Select "I have an existing internet account..".
  • Click on "Next"
  • elect.Select this option if you are accessing the Internet using an Internet service provider..".
  • Click on "Next"
  • Setting up your Internet connection
  • Select "Connect using my phone line.."
  • Click on "Next"
Phone Number
Area Code: Leave Blank
Type in the local access phone number. If you are not sure what your local access number is, you can find a list here. ACCESS NUMBERS
Click on "Next"

User Name and Password
User name: Please enter the User ID provided to you.
Password: Please enter the password provided to you. Please take extra care to enter the password exactly as shown.
  • Click on "Next"
  • Dial-Up Connection Name
  • Connection name: You may call your connection anything you want, however, we recommend naming it Wyoming.com.
  • Click on "Next"
  • Click on Connect.

Creating your connection Important: Keep your Account Information (User name and Password)in a safe

  • First, find the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop (the Big Blue E). If you do not see the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop, please contact Customer Service (800)588-3304.
  • Click your RIGHT mouse button on the Internet Explorer icon (the Big Blue E).
  • Click on "Properties" with your LEFT mouse button. (All further references to "click on" refer to using your left mouse button, unless otherwise specified.)
  • Internet Properties
  • On the Internet Properties screen, click on the "General" tab. In the section called "Home Page" enter the following address in place of what currently appears: http://www.Wyoming.com Click on Apply at the lower right of the screen.
  • Click on the "Connection" tab. Click on the "Setup" button. The Internet Connection Wizard will start.
  • Internet Connection Wizard
  • Select "Dial-up to the Internet". Click on Next
  • Select "I want to set up my internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)". Click on Next.
  • Setting up your Internet connection
  • Select "Connect using my phone line and modem".
  • Click on Next.

Phone Number
Area Code: Leave Blank
Type in the local access phone number. If you are not sure what your local access number is, you can find a list here.
Click on "Next"

Windows NT Instructions

Creating your connection (Important: Keep your Account Information sheet in a safe spot! You may need it at a later date.)
Before Starting:
If you are on any kind of a Network, see your Network Administrator.
This setup assumes you have both Internet browser and mail client programs. If you do not, you will have to obtain them.
  • In 'My Computer', double click 'Dial-up Networking'.
  • If you have run 'Dial-up Networking' before, click 'New' to create a new phonebook entry. If this is the first time you have run DUN, you will receive the following message: "The phonebook is empty. Press OK to add an entry". Click OK.
  • Under 'Name the new phonebook entry', type: Wyoming.com, and then click 'Next'.
  • On the next screen, make sure the first two check boxes are selected ("I am calling the Internet" and "Send my plain text password..."). Do not select the third check box. Click 'Next'.
  • Under 'Phone number', type in your local access number for Wyoming.com. Click 'Next', then click 'Finish'
  • Click OK, and then click 'Dial' to connect to Wyoming.com.

Windows XP Instructions

  • Click on the Start button on the toolbar.
  • Click on the Control Panel selection.
  • Double-click on the Network and Internet Connections icon. 
  • Double-click on the Internet Options icon. If you can not find it contact Customer Service at 800-588-3304.
  • Internet Properties
  • On the Internet Properties screen, click on the "General" tab. In the section called "Home Page" enter the following address in place of what currently appears: http://www.Wyoming.com
  • Click on the "Connections" tab.
  • Under the connection section, click on the "Setup" button. The Internet Connection Wizard will start.

  • Click on Connect to the Internet. Click on "Next."
  • Click on Setup my connection manually. Click on "Next"
  • Click on Connect using a dialup modem. Click on "Next."
  • Type in Wyoming.com for a connection name. Click on "Next."
Type in the local access phone number. If you are not sure what your local access number is, you can find a list here. ACCESS NUMBERS
Type your user name and password. Type the password in again at Confirm password. Click on "Next"
Be sure to leave Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection checked. Click on "Next"
Completing the New Connection Wizard. Click on Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop. Click on "Finish."
The Connect window should appear. Click on "Dial" to tell the computer to dialup to the internet.

  Macintosh 8.0 Instructions

  • Open the Internet Setup Assistant
  • Click on the Hard drive icon on the desktop, then click on the folder call Applications.
  • From there click on Utilities and then click on Assistants. There should be an icon for Internet Setup Assistant.
  • Click on this icon and it will bring up the assistant that will guide you through setting up your connection.
  • Click Update (do NOT click on the Register option)
  • Select "Add Internet Configuration"
  • You'll be asked for several pieces of information:
  • Name of configuration: (you can name it whatever you like, we recommend calling it Wyoming.com)
  • Static or Dynamic configuration: Dynamic (not Dynamic MacIP)
  • DNS servers: Primary - 206.54.112.1 
  • Secondary - 199.190.151.1
  • Domain name: Wyoming.com
Email address: jdoe@Wyoming.com (replace jdoe with the user ID issued to you)
Email password: your password
Email account: jdoe (replace jdoe with the user ID issued to you)
Email host: mail.Wyoming.com
Newsgroup host: news.Wyoming.com

Configuring Internet Preferences
  • Open the Internet Setup Utility located in the Internet: Internet Utilities (open the Internet folder and then the Internet utility folder)
  • The setup utility has two parts:
  • The upper screen allows you to select what programs are to be opened at connect time
  • The lower screen allows you to select what configuration setting you have and what one is active. (The configuration setting is what your computer uses to connect to the Internet through Wyoming.com)
  • You can also launch the Internet Setup Assistant to add/modify/remove configurations from this screen
  • Connecting to the Internet
  • Open the Internet Dialer located in the Internet folder
  • Choose the connection you want to use from the connect via menu
  • Click connect
Disconnecting from the Internet
You can use the Internet Dialer to disconnect. Click on the disconnect button. default, it will disconnect after 10 minutes of inactivity. You can modify this by using the PPP control panel (it's under the options button and then the connection tab).

Macintosh 8.5 – 9.0 Instructions

  • Open the Internet Setup Assistant
  • Click on the Hard drive icon on the desktop, then click on the folder call Applications.

  • "How will you be connecting to the Internet?" -- Click on "Modem"
  • Click the right arrow to continue.

The phone number to access the Internet is provided on your Account Information Sheet from Wyoming.com. It is listed as "local dial" on the Account Information Sheet.
The user id for your account is provided on your Account Information Sheet from Wyoming.com.
The password for your account is provided on your Account Information Sheet from Wyoming.com
Click the right arrow to continue.

PPP Connect Scripts
"Does your ISP require that you use a PPP Connect Script" -- Click "No"
  • Click the right arrow to continue.
  • IP Address. Click "No".
  • Click the right arrow to continue.

  • Click the right arrow to continue.

Quoting character: > (leave the ">" as shown)
  • Click the right arrow to continue.

MAC OS X Instructions

  • Click on the Apple menu (located in the upper left-hand corner of the screen) and select System Preferences
  • In System Preferences, open the Network window by double-clicking the Network icon that is under Internet & Network Category.
  • In the Network window
  • Set Location to Automatic
  • On the Show menu located at the top of the Network window, click the drop down arrow and select Internal Modem 
Note: If you are using an external modem select that instead.
